CHP to step up county road enforcement

The California Highway Patrol will be cracking down on speeding drivers on certain county roads.

A press release from the CHP states Highway Patrol officers will be strictly enforcing speeding laws along Forrester Road, Ross Road, Evan Hewes Highway and Dogwood Road.

CHP Officer Carlos Davila said the local Highway Patrol office decided to place more units on those county roads because of complaints by residents.

He added the Imperial County Public Works Department conducted some traffic speed studies along those roads.

Neil Jorgenson, county traffic engineer, said the studies found traffic is more congested on the road during the morning and afternoon hours.

Davila said those are the precise times CHP units will be patrolling those roads.

Davila said the Highway Patrol is not sure how long it will be cracking down on speeders on those roads.

He said the Highway Patrol will determine whether to continue with the special enforcement measures on those roads after determining their effectiveness.
