Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Cornerstone Community Church, 125 E. 6th St. in Holtville, for Emily Sprague, 91, of Holtville, who died Saturday in her home.

Pastor George Nite will officiate.

Graveside services will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in El Centro.

Mrs. Sprague was born June 29, 1910, in Cheyenne, Okla. She married Clinton Sprague in Yuma on Sept. 28, 1935.

She was an active member of Cornerstone Community Church, formerly First Christian Church of Holtville, for five decades. She held several offices in Zeta Tau, a Christian women's organization over the years.

Mrs. Sprague will be remembered for the many cakes and cookies she so willingly baked for the youth groups in the church.


Being a longtime member of the Women's Club of Holtville, she always enjoyed the Garden Club and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, according to family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clinton Sprague, on Jan. 25, 1966.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Bill Daniell and Sharon and Jack Ainsworth, all of Holtville; grandchildren and spouses, Delu and Jeff Plourd of Holtville, DeEtte and Greg Cooper of Uvalde, Texas, Derrick Daniell of Visalia, Monica and Johvannie Masserini and Marci and Andy Mange, all of Holtville, Leslie Ainsworth of Modesto, Jill Ainsworth of Jacksonville, Fla.; seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family suggests donations be sent to the Emily Sprague memorial fund at Cornerstone Community Church, P.O. Box 58, Holtville, CA 92250.
