Voice: Kofford's satire resorted to ‘unpleasant labels'

April 08, 2002

I read again where Bret Kofford has resorted to using unpleasant labels for those who don't share his point of view. I refer to his last satire suggesting that those opposed to homosexual adoptions are "right-wing religious nuts."

I believe the expression of ideas and opinions in a local newspaper is a healthy outlet. I don't feel there's any room for name-calling in our community newspaper — especially when it is done by the newspaper's management.

Come on, Mr. Kofford, you're a trained professional. Can't you offer any better to our newspaper than this?
