Voice: Mexican-American loyalty to U.S. dates way back

April 09, 2002

"Maybe in Mexico and Fidel Castro like"? This clearly implies that the writer sees those (activists) of Mexican descent as foreigners or second-class citizens at best and not to be trusted for their loyalty.

The Santillan family is in its sixth generation in this country. Two separate family members served in the Army during the era of World War II, Korea and Vietnam. Now in this time of terrorism, we have a Marine in uniform.

I would be very surprised if the "Familia" Boniface has been here longer. But then, you were born white. So that makes you automatically right and with more rights. And of course, the right to call people stupid.
