HOLTVILLE — The City Council here decided recently to approve the building of a senior citizen housing project and an adult daycare center, according to Holtville City Manager John Jordan.

The senior housing project, which would be at the corner of Holt Avenue and Ninth Street, has cleared all the local procedural requirements and is awaiting approval by state and federal agencies, Jordan said.

He added the project would consist of 81 units with one- and two-bedroom units available for both singles and married couples.

The daycare center, which will provide a place for elderly Holtville residents to stay and receive assisted living services while their relatives work, would be at the corner of Grape Court and Grape Avenue, Jordan said.

He said in most cases Medicare and private insurance would cover the daycare cost to seniors.

The senior housing project will be constructed by Chelsea Investment Group of Solana Beach, Jordan said. The company will seek the necessary financing including tax credits that would allow it to provide seniors low-cost housing.

Sun Systems West Management Corp. will develop and seek financing for the daycare center, Jordan said.
