Arabs split with Palomar

SAN MARCOS — For the second time this season, Imperial Valley College's baseball team knocked off Palomar College, which is ranked among the top 15 in Southern California among junior colleges.

The Arabs split a doubleheader Thursday, losing the first game 4-0 and winning the second 8-7 in 10 innings.

Jake Richter went 4-for-5 with three runs batted in for IVC and Humberto Cardenas was 3-for-5 with two RBI in the second game. Eric Flores and Ryan Parker both collected two hits for IVC in the second game. Cardenas picked up the win on the mound.

Cardenas and Richter both had two hits in the first game as Jose Ibarra took the pitching loss.

IVC (5-12 Pacific Coast Conference, 12-21 overall) plays a 2 p.m. Tuesday at Grossmont College in El Cajon.
