CALEXICO — The bodies of two people, both thought to be undocumented immigrants, were found Friday and Saturday, one in a local canal here and the other in nearby mountains.

The U.S. Border Patrol early Saturday spotted one body in the All-American Canal east of Calexico.

The body, that of a man thought to be in his 20s, was recovered by the county Coroner's Office about noon in the East Highline Canal.

There was no identification found on the body.

Another body, that of a woman, was found in the mountains near Mountain Springs Road on Friday, about three miles south of the runaway truck ramp.

County Coroner Investigator Deputy Gary Hayes said he thinks the body had been there about six to eight months. He said the body was clad in women's clothing but no identification was found.

Hayes said the area the woman was found in is a frequently used route by undocumented immigrants crossing illegally into the country.
