>>50 years ago — As an aid to peace officers when questioning juveniles, and in an effort to cut juvenile delinquency in the Imperial Valley, a central index file on juveniles who have been held or questioned by police is to be organized to allow for a speedier and more complete check.

>>40 years ago — Superior Court Judge Elmer Heald cleared the way for Robert Wagner to be seated as an Imperial city councilman. Wagner was elected April 10 but City Attorney Reginald Knox ruled Wagner couldn't take his seat because he had not filed his campaign statement in time.

>>30 years ago — Testing results in Imperial grade schools and high school show students rank average and sometimes above average in test scores in the nation, said Paul Genoud, counselor at Imperial High School. Intelligence scores were average and verbal skills were slightly above the nation's mean score.

>>20 years ago —Douglas Patiño, head of the state's health and welfare department, said Saturday no pesticides should be used by farmers that might harm farm workers and consumers. Patiño was in town to take part in Calexico's Cavalcade Parade and in WomanHaven's "Fiesta del Mundo," Saturday night at Casino de Mexicali.
