On April 20, in celebration of National Service Day, I witnessed many caring citizens unselfishly donating their time to beautify our city of Calexico.
Bright and early at 8 a.m. on a Saturday morning, both young and adults were gathered at the Community Center and enthusiastically picked up a paintbrush in order to wipe out the graffiti displayed throughout our city.
After a brief welcome from Mayor Renison and Congressman Bob Filner, the group received instruction and we were all sent to our designated cleaning areas.
The day was long and the sun was strong, but all in all, the event was a success. I must say that our city is looking better than ever!
