Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Peter & Paul Episcopal Church in El Centro for Pearl E. Ledyard, 86, who died Thursday at Premier Care in Palm Springs.

The Rev. Paul Gambling of Yuma Episcopal Church will officiate.

Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in El Centro.

Mrs. Ledyard was born June 19, 1915 in Pensacola, Fla., and attended schools there.

She married Gordon T. Ledyard on Dec. 22, 1932 in Pensacola and they celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary in 2001.

With her husband serving in the U.S. Navy, the couple moved often before coming to the Imperial Valley in 1952 and settling in El Centro.

For several years Mrs. Ledyard owned and operated a ceramic shop in El Centro, where she taught classes.

She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star.

Mrs. Ledyard enjoyed playing bingo with her friends and working in her garden. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, according to family.


She was preceded in death by her son, Gordon Ledyard, in 1998 and three brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include her husband, Gordon Ledyard of El Centro; daughter and son-in-law, Luana and Eddie Glen Reed of Brawley; grandson and wife, Russell and Tina Ledyard of El Centro; granddaughter and husband, Kimberli and Brian Roe of La Quinta; and six great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to St. Peter & Paul Episcopal Church, P.O. box 3446, El Centro, CA 92244.


Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Hems Bros. Mortuary chapel in El Centro for Jose Angel Barragan Lopez, 54, of San Diego, who died Wednesday in Kaiser Hospital in San Diego, after a lengthy illness. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m.

Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Wednesday in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in El Centro. The Rev. Jaime Escobedo will officiate.

Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Calexico.

Mr. Lopez, known to colleagues and friends as "Joe" and as "Pepe" to his family, was born Oct. 1, 1947 in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. He came to the Imperial Valley in 1957 with his family and settled in El Centro.

A 1967 graduate of Central Union High School, Mr. Lopez graduated from Imperial Valley College and went on to graduate from University of California, Santa Barbara with a degree in psychology.

He served his country honorably in Vietnam and went on to work for the Santa Barbara County Department of Probation and the California Department of Corrections as a parole agent for 23 years.

On May 8, 1991 Mr. Lopez married Micaela Leon in San Diego.

He was preceded in death by his father, Merced Aguirre Lopez.

Survivors include his wife, Micaela Leon of El Centro; children, Azalea, Azvcena and Jose Angel Lopez, all of San Diego; mother, Juana B. Lopez of El Centro; brother, Arturo Lopez of Guadalajara; brothers and sisters-in-law, Rafael and Ignacia Lopez and Raul and Norma Lopez, all of El Centro; sisters and brothers-in-law, Rosalinda Lopez and Armando Mendoza of Gilroy, Rosalia and Fernando Sesma of Lakewood and Eva Lopez Peacher and George Peacher of Sacramento; and nephews and nieces, Stephen and Angel Valladolid, Raquel and Alegria Lopez, Raul, Claudia and Arlene Lopez, Christopher, Anthony and Maritza Sesma and Adriana Lopez De Castro.

The family suggests memorials to the Leukemia Foundation.
