Olvera is facing five counts of lewd acts with a child under age 14.
The sexual acts are alleged to have happened during a seven-year, eight-month time period, during which the girl's mother and Olvera were engaged in a relationship, although the mother apparently never knew of what was happening between Olvera and her daughter.
The mother, who testified Monday afternoon, told jurors she met Olvera in November 1993 when he and other U.S. Border Patrol agents checked her home.
According to the mother, Border Patrol agents had received word that undocumented immigrants were living in her home. The only undocumented immigrant in her home was her then 18-year-old daughter.
The 18-year-old daughter was taken away by agents but was returned soon after. The mother and her other five daughters and two sons were all living in the U.S. with proper permits.
The mother did not see Olvera until December 1993 when he came back to her house and asked her out to dinner.
Even though she knew he was already married, their relationship was ongoing until July 11, 2001 when her daughters told her Olvera was doing something bad to their then 9-year-old sister. One of the daughters called the police later that night.
A former colleague of Olvera testified Monday about comments Olvera made about another young girl.
Olvera's former colleague said he, Olvera and another agent were at a ranch talking to the owners. Olvera made a comment to the agent about the girl's breasts and made a sucking noise.
The agent responded with, "She's just a little girl."
The agent said Olvera kept starring at the girl's breasts and said she wasn't wearing a bra.
Olvera appeared calm throughout the testimony. He sat in his chair and watched as witnesses testified against him.
Olvera is scheduled to testify today.
