EAgle netters triumph

BRAWLEY — Southwest High's boys tennis team dumped Brawley Union High 16-2 on Monday to up its record to 6-0 in the Imperial Valley League.

Overall the Eagles improved to 12-1.

The Eagles' No. 1 netter, Timm Walter, won 6-0, 6-2, 6-0, Southwest's No. 2 player, John Bonano, scored 6-1, 6-4, 6-0 and the Eagles' No. 3 player, Bobby Romero, went 6-4, 7-6 (8-6), 6-1. Playing singles for Brawley were Sutton Morgan, Chris Encell and Brian Galesko.

Southwest's No. 1 doubles team of Greg and Randy Lyon won 6-2, 6-0, 6-0, the Eagles' No. 2 duo of Chris Thomas and Neil Stickles scored 6-7 (2-7), 6-3, 6-1 and Southwest's No. 3 tandem of Kareem Salem and Hector Bravo went 6-7 (3-7), 6-2, 6-0. Playing doubles for Brawley were Nick Mendoza and Enrique Sanchez, Jacob Amidon and Carlos Herredia and Ethan Gibson and Ernesto Montesinos. Southwest's substitute team of Jake Park and Jared Kaye went 6-1.

Southwest hosts Vincent Memorial at 3 today. Brawley hosts Central at 5 p.m. Monday
