IVC recording studio kudos

April 30, 2002

The Imperial Valley College Humanities Division would like to thank several businesses as well as the IVC Foundation for their generous donations in support of our new recording studio.

With their support we have converted our music storage area into a state-of-the art recording studio. This will give our students hands-on experience in various aspects of creating sound tracks.

Gordon's Carpets donated carpeting that significantly improved the appearance and acoustics of the studio. Clark Baker Music provided a 12-channel microphone snake, two Direct Boxes, two large microphone stands, two timbales, and several student guitars. The Guitar Center of La Mesa donated microphone cables and gave us excellent deals on other equipment.

The recording studio is going to be a great asset to our community in several ways. It will provide students access to recording equipment and technology at a reasonable cost through IVC classes. It will also provide a means of musical communication and promotion of musical talent via CD publication.

Moreover, the recording classes will give students who are considering a career in broadcasting or recording engineering, the hands-on training they need.

We truly want to thank our contributors for helping us realize our dream of bringing recording technology to the Imperial Valley College community. Their contributions will be valued and appreciated for many years to come.
