U.S. Border Patrol agents seized 1,370 pound of marijuana as eight suspected illegal immigrants were trying to cross the border.

A press release from the Border Patrol El Centro sector stated around 3 p.m. Tuesday agents patrolling near Highway 80 and In-Ko-Pah Road saw a pickup traveling toward Interstate 8.

The agents suspected the truck had crossed into the county illegally and followed it. The truck made a series of turns after getting on the interstate, eventually traveling south toward the international boundary fence.

When the truck reached the fence, the agents saw several individuals cross into U.S. territory and set up ramps for the truck to drive over the border back into Mexico.

While the truck was trying to cross the border it got stuck. The suspects left the vehicle and fled into Mexico.

Agents found inside the vehicle 206 bundles of marijuana. The truck and contraband were turned over to the Imperial County Sheriff's Office.
