I have to wonder if Laura Mitchell was at the same meeting I was?
Why is it when public lands issues get written about, that multiple use supporters come off sounding like "land-stomping drunks"?
I was at the meeting in Long Beach. I heard two people speak supporting closure with extreme environmental views. I heard about 75 people speak in favor of multiple use and recreation. I heard one person say they had an issue with limiting alcohol use to campgrounds.
After an hour and a half of public comment that was rationally and methodically presented about flaws in the environmental impact study and about responsible recreation in the dunes, why would a writer reduce it to two paragraphs supporting the extreme environmental lobby and one sentence about multiple use supporters?
