>>50 years ago — The famed Los Angeles City College a cappella choir will appear at Brawley's Palmer Auditorium on Friday evening. The choir will present a varied program of sacred songs, ballads and favorite folk songs.

>>40 years ago — The Brawley Babe Ruth League, set to start the 1962 season, will introduce its players to Brawley and Northend parents through a special showing at the Brawley theater May 8 of the baseball movie "Reggie's Bump."

>>30 years ago — Dr. Amelia Katsigeanis said she has received authorization from the state Department of Health for the Calexico methadone drug abuse program to accept an additional 10 patients, bringing the total to 22 at Calexico Hospital.

>>20 years ago — Marshall G. Maggard on Monday became administrator of Pioneers Memorial Hospital. Maggard came to Brawley from Tucson, where he was a consultant for medical specialists for two years.
