Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday in Hems Bros. Mortuary chapel in Calexico for Albert C. Castro, 62, of Soledad, who died Thursday at Hospice House in Monterey.

Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Calexico with the Rev. Edmundo Zarate officiating.

Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery in Calexico.

Mr. Castro was born April 8, 1940, in El Centro. Raised in the Imperial Valley, Mr. Castro worked as a cellar foreman for Paul Mason Winery for the past 15 years.


Survivors include his sons, Albert Castro of Long Beach, Carlos Castro of Soledad and Rick Castro of Castroville; two brothers, six sisters and two grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be sent to Hospice House, 100 Barnet Segal Lane, Monterey, CA 93940.


Services are pending for David Allen McElvany, 70, of El Centro, who died Wednesday at El Centro Regional Medical Center.

Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Mr. McElvany was born April 11, 1932, in El Centro. He married Margo Pennington in November 1954 in El Centro.

Mr. McElvany was involved with the Imperial Valley Racing Association in the 1950s and 1960s. He enjoyed competing in the stock car racing class. He was a member of the National Guard and was on the Imperial Valley Ducks Unlimited committee for the past 15 years.

Mr. McElvany enjoyed canning okra, asparagus, jams and jellies, for which he received several awards at the California Mid-Winter Fair & Fiesta.

Survivors include his mother, Wilma McElvany of El Centro; brother and sister-in-law, Don and Pat McElvany of Imperial; brother and sister-in-law, Ike and Helen McElvany of Los Banos; brother, Wink McElvany of El Centro; son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Linda Wright; grandchildren, Michael Wright, Brittney Wright and Mark Wright of Riverside; nephew, Carl Jr. and his wife, Belen McElvany, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family suggests memorials be sent to First Christian Church of El Centro, 405 S. Waterman Ave.



Visitation will be from 6 to 9 today in Hems Bros. Mortuary chapel in El Centro for Eduviges "QuiQuet" Rosales, 42, of El Centro, who died of cancer Tuesday in her home. Rosary will be said at 7.

Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in El Centro. The Rev. Jaime Escobedo will officiate.

Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in El Centro.

Ms. Rosales was born June 13, 1959, in El Centro, where she was raised and graduated from Central Union High School.

She worked at Wrights Party Store in San Diego for eight years.

According to family, Ms. Rosales was an avid dog lover and her dogs were everything to her. She will be missed by her family and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Francisco and Francisca Guerrero; sister, Sandra in 1972; brother, Eduardito in 1972; and brother, Joe Robert Rosales in 1999.

Survivors include her parents, Jose and Dolores Rosales of El Centro; sisters, Yrene Ocjoa, Leticia Rosales and Lolita Noriega, all of El Centro; brothers, Ricardo, Ruben, Jesus and Francisco Rosales, all of El Centro; and numerous nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins and godchildren.
