The vehicle reportedly was observed crossing into the United States through the open desert west of Mount Signal. The vehicle was followed by U.S. Border Patrol agents to Wixom, where the vehicle drove over a spike strip.

The vehicle continued east on Wixom until the driver lost control and rolled the vehicle onto its side, the Highway Patrol report states.
