GAFCU honors employees of the quarter

Government Agencies Federal Credit Union honored Ellen Verdugo as manager of the quarter and Bernie Delgado and Melvin Wong as employees of the quarter at a staff meeting recently.

Verdugo, loan department manager, has been with the credit union for 19 years. She was recognized for her ability to communicate with all credit union departments and give assistance to employees as they go through new processes and changes.

She is also involved in the community and put together a team for the Relay for Life.

"Ellen is an excellent manager and a huge asset to GAFCU," stated George Kirschner, GAFCU president/chief executive officer. "We are very lucky to have such a devoted manager as part of our staff."

Delgado has been with the credit union for 10 years. He is knowledgeable of credit union procedures and completes numerous tasks assigned to him. He was an instrumental part in training staff on new credit union procedures.


"Bernie's great attitude and willingness to help others makes him a stellar employee," stated Tina Burke, GAFCU vice president of operations. "He is exactly the type of employee we look for at GAFCU."

Wong has been with the credit union for one year. He was recognized for his excellent member service and supporting his coworkers. He never hesitates to complete a task outside the realm of his job, according to those who work with him.

"Melvin is an outstanding employee who can always be counted on," stated Nadyne Larkins, El Centro branch manager. "We are very lucky to have such a positive individual working for GAFCU."

Government Agencies Federal Credit Union serves the financial needs of over 35,000 members with branches in El Centro, Brawley, Calexico, Imperial, Holtville, Calipatria and Salton City.
