Brawley man held in alleged burglary

BRAWLEY — Police here arrested a 19-year-old man after police caught him burglarizing a commercial business Tuesday night.

Brawley Police Chief Henry Graham said police arrested Brawley resident Joel Gaytan, 19, on suspicion of burglarizing Ramey's Meat & Locker Service at 4626 Highway 111.

Graham said officers were dispatched to Ramey's after a burglar alarm sounded at 8:16 p.m.

When officers arrived some three minutes later, Graham said one of the officers saw Gaytan leaving an old apartment located behind the business. Graham said the apartment is used as a storage facility.

The officer chased Gaytan for about three blocks before catching him and arresting him.

Gaytan was taken to the county jail. His bail information was unavailable.
