HEBER — A vehicle accident Tuesday involving a Vincent Memorial High School bus left two students and a Heber man with minor injuries.

At 7:48 a.m. a vehicle driven by 36-year-old Ruby Faye Robledo of Heber crossed the path of a bus driven by Julio Cesar Cardenas, 34, of Calexico at the intersection of Heber and Clark roads, a press release from the California Highway Patrol states.

Robledo was heading toward El Centro while Cardenas was on his way to Calexico to drop off nine Vincent Memorial High students at the school.

According to the press release, Robledo was driving west on Heber Road approaching Clark, where there is a posted stop sign for east-west traffic, while Cardenas was heading south on Clark approaching Heber Road.

Robledo failed to see the bus approaching and attempted to cross the intersection after stopping at the stop sign, the release states.

Cardenas saw Robledo cross into his path but was unable to avoid hitting him. The bus struck the right side of Robledo's sedan.

Both Robledo and Cardenas were wearing seat belts.

Two students riding in the bus were taken to El Centro Regional Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries. Their conditions were unavailable this morning.
