Investigators have released the name of a 49-year-old Los Angeles woman who died in a vehicular accident Wednesday near the intersection of Forrester and Aten roads.

Imperial County Coroner Investigator Deputy Henry Proo said Lucia De Jesus Gutierrez died upon impact when her late model van collided with a hay squeeze vehicle driven by Gustavo Buenrostro, 39, of Calexico.

Gutierrez's vehicle burst into flames upon impact, also igniting Buenrostro's vehicle.

Proo said based on the damage to the vehicle, it appears Gutierrez was killed by the impact and not by the fire.

The accident happened around 4:15 a.m. Wednesday. Gutierrez was heading south on Forrester while Buenrostro was heading north on Forrester.

For an unknown reason, Gutierrez allowed her vehicle to drift across the northbound lanes onto the east dirt shoulder.

Gutierrez attempted to steer back onto the roadway but in doing so overcorrected and the van skidded sideways and collided with the hay squeeze.

Buenrostro suffered minor cuts to his hands. He was treated at the scene.

Forrester Road was closed for about three hours Wednesday morning after the accident .
