‘Clean Up El Centro' day slated

May 10, 2002|STAFF REPORT

In an effort to continue with the beautification of El Centro, the El Centro Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Bureau have announced the next "Clean Up El Centro" will be May 18.

Valley Environmental Services will be placing large trash bins at Stark Field on Fourth Street.

To keep traffic flowing, El Centro residents will be asked to enter Stark Field via Third Street and proceed west on Lenrey Avenue and exit onto Fourth Street upon disposing of their trash. Don not enter from Fourth Street.

The bins will be available from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. To avoid overflow of trash, the bins will be emptied throughout the day. There will be a staff member from Valley Environmental Services on site to ensure only authorized items are dumped in the trash bins.

Rubbish, furniture, white goods and green waste will be accepted at the site. The following items may be dumped in the trash bins: normal household trash such as items you usually put in your residential cans, paper, old furniture such as couches, mattresses, tables, chairs and cardboard and grass and tree trimmings not more than 3 feet long or 8 inches in diameter (residential only — not for commercial gardeners). Dismounted tires will be accepted for a fee of $3 per tire and the charge for mounted tires will be $5 per tire.
