Voice: Green Party's agenda on dunes and other issues far from hidden

May 13, 2002

In Chuck Mobley's letter of May 2 he berates Green Party member Robert Holzman for allegedly getting his facts wrong concerning the partial closure of the dunes.

I respectfully point out a major fact that Mr. Mobley has gotten wrong. In referring to changes in the dunes plan, he speaks directly to Mr. Holzman and says, "As usual you went back on that promise. We will never trust you, or the BLM, again in regard to this issue."

No branch of the Green Party was in any way involved in the bringing about the closures of the dunes, nor was Mr. Holzman. While the Green Party of Imperial County strongly supports the partial closure, it wasn't even in existence when the last changes related to dunes use were made.

Mr. Mobley wonders whether the Green Party has a hidden agenda. Well, we certainly have an agenda, but we have no desire to hide it. Our agenda includes protecting the earth for future generations, promoting the use of renewable energy sources such as wind and sun, raising the minimum wage to a living wage, eliminating racial and gender discrimination, promoting grass-roots democracy and working for peaceful resolution of conflicts. We support and try to elect candidates who will work for these values.
