Voice: IVC disabled students program a jewel in our desert

May 14, 2002

As the close of the school year approaches, I find myself involved in so many campus activities that I never knew existed at Imperial Valley College.

Some examples are the awards ceremony held in our College Center on May 7 to honor the dedication of staff and administration and the accomplishments of the students from our disabled students programs and services program at IVC.

In that ceremony approximately 75 people were recognized for their academic accomplishments.

As a citizen of this Imperial Valley community, I thank the instructors and administrators of Imperial Valley College for their dedication to this population with disabilities.

To the students I offer my most sincere congratulations.

To the employers of Imperial Valley, I respectfully ask you to open your doors, your minds and your hearts and support these disabled students with an opportunity to put their learning into action. Give them a return on their investment and I can assure you that your business will get a return on its investment.

The disabled students programs and services at IVC is truly a jewel in our desert.

Congratulations to all involved.
