Thank You: Student gives thanks for motorcycle run for uncle/godfather

May 23, 2002

On May 4 I arranged a motorcycle, run for my uncle and godfather, Carlos M. Torrez. It turned out to be a great senior project in which I learned a lot.

Without the help of everyone who participated I would not have been able to do it.

First of all, I'd like to thank my parents, my mentor and my family for helping me. I owe you guys so much.

Next I'd like to thank Linda Sanchez and Jose Lopez Gamez for allowing me to use their expertise and knowledge in making this a success. They guided me and showed me how to do this run.

The Imperial Dam Imperial Irrigation District workers were also a big help. Thank you for giving up a Saturday to help me. I'd also like to thank all the motorcycle riders and the people who went to the picnic. I hope you enjoyed yourselves and I'm happy that you guys still remember Carlos with such fond memories.

Now for all the sponsors who helped. I can't thank you enough. The items you donated helped me handle the expenses and have enough to give a scholarship in Carlos' name to a Brawley Union High School senior going to a trade school.

The sponsors were: Alford Distributing Co., Coca-Cola Co., Town Pump, Domino's Pizza in Brawley, Hawg Wild, Albertsons grocery store, Government Agencies Federal Credit Union of Brawley, D&H Body Shop, Gene Araujo Insurance Agency, I.V. Cycle Center, Clinicas de Salud del Pueblo, Allstate, State Farm Insurance, Jack in the Box, Klicka, Blockbuster, Pioneers Memorial Hospital, IID and R. Yniguez from Imperial Valley Press for covering the story.
