Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church of San Diego, 5055 Governor Drive, for Rosemond Hyde, 89, of San Diego, a former Imperial Valley resident who died Monday in San Diego.

Mrs. Hyde was born June 21, 1912, in Okmulgee, Okla., and moved with her family to California in the early 1930s.

She graduated from University of California, Berkeley in 1936.

Mrs. Hyde worked as a math teacher at Central Union High School in El Centro for more than 10 years, from which she retired in 1978.

In the mid-1970s, Mrs. Hyde inspired the construction of the Hyde Park Racquet Club in Imperial, which she later owned and operated for several years.

She last resided in La Jolla, where she enjoyed serving on the La Jolla Tennis Club Board. She also enjoyed watching the seals at the La Jolla Cove.

According to her friends in the Valley, she will be remembered as an avid tennis player.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, David and Candy Hyde of Cincinnati; daughter and son-in-law, Laurel and Allen Olson of San Diego; and grandchildren, Douglas Hyde and Kristen and Robert Olson.

The family suggests memorials be sent to the La Jolla Tennis Club youth program, 7632 Draper Ave., La Jolla, CA 92037; the La Jolla Friends of the Seals, P.O. Box 2016, La Jolla, CA 92038; or to First Baptist Church of San Diego, 5055 Governor Drive, San Diego, CA 92122.
