Police seek robbery suspect

El Centro police are searching for a suspect in the strong-armed robbery of a 59-year-old man in front of the New Esquire Bar in downtown El Centro on Saturday morning.

The suspect was described as an African-American male in his 30s, about 5 feet 11 inches tall and 150 pounds. He was last seen wearing a dark blue Hawaiian shirt and black cut-off jeans.

El Centro police Officer Dub Perkins said the robbery was reported at 8:11 a.m. by Paul Rhoads, the victim.

Rhoads told police the suspect reached into Rhoads' pocket while Rhoads was talking with another man. The suspect then fled with an undisclosed amount of money.
