Thank you for the article on "Maggie" Brock, "Caring for the Wounded," by Darren Simon — what an exceptional article. It was, in my opinion, the perfect story to run for the Memorial Day paper. Her stories were fascinating and entertaining, although, at times I did not know if I should laugh or cry. The story about the soldiers looking for their foxholes during heavy thunder and lightning storms was particularly sad.
You see, two of my uncles served during War II. One of my uncles received a Purple Heart for injuries he sustained while saving his buddies from a burning tank. According to his daughter, he still suffers from recurring nightmares of being in battle.
