9 businesses cited for alcohol sales during E.C. sting

El Centro police issued several citations during a decoy operation conducted on establishments that sell alcohol in the city.

El Centro police Lt. Tim Blankenship said police officers, with assistance from the state Alcoholic Beverage Control office and the District Attorney's Office, issued nine citations Friday night. The operation lasted from 6 to 10:30 p.m.

The nine establishments issued citations were: Max Foods, El A's De Oro, The Owl Cafe, both AM/PM Mini Marts, Garcia Foods, McNeece Mini Mart, Coyote Wells and the Texaco gas station at 1865 Adams Ave.

Blankenship said the citations were issued to the people who made the alcohol sale.

Still, he said if the establishments sell alcohol to minors again the ABC will be revoking their alcohol licenses.
