Juveniles arrested on suspicion of burglary

WESTMORLAND — Police here arrested three juveniles on suspicion of burglary Saturday morning after they allegedly were caught stealing school supplies.

A 14-year-old boy and two 16-year-old boys were arrested around 2 a.m. after a silent alarm was triggered at the Westmorland Union Elementary School. The elementary school is connected to the junior high school.

Westmorland police Officer Eric Treviño said thieves broke into one of the rooms at the school through a window. The rooms was being used for storage for school supplies.

The supplies are given to students during special events, said Treviño.

He said when found the juveniles had two large black plastic bags and a duffel bag full of the supplies.

He added the younger of the alleged burglars is a student at the junior high. The other two attend Brawley Union High School.
