>>50 years ago — The Brawley Forum Association announced today the speakers and their subjects for the 1952-53 season, which will open Oct. 27. The programs are free to the public; attendance is important to determine the state's decision to fund future forums.

>>40 years ago — The executive board of the Brawley Junior Women's Club will meet tomorrow night to discuss plans on their participation in Fourth of July celebrations, progress for the coming year and a proposed budget.

>>30 years ago — About 10,650 students from 43 Imperial Valley elementary schools have participated in this year's water safety program sponsored by the Imperial Irrigation District. The campaign began April 17 and ended May 26. The district also conducted the campaign in the Coachella Valley, where about 7,000 children participated.

>>20 years ago — If you are an average water and sewer consumer in Imperial, a proposed new rate could save you money. But if you use water drop by drop, or turn on the hoses at once to water your lawn, it would cost you more. Proposed by City Councilman Victor Mendoza, to the City Council on Wednesday, the proposal would increase the rate for those using above the maximum delivery.
