The Boys and Girls Club of Brawley honored the boy and girl of the year at the Steak Burger Dinner.

Isaac Villarreal and Katrina Ruiz were chosen boy and girl of the year.

Isaac Villarreal, age 12, has been an exemplary member of the Boys and Girls Club since he began coming at age 6. His caring consideration for others and his willingness to help wherever needed are two outstanding characteristics, and he is also a very good student.

Katrina Ruiz has been coming to the club since the first grade. She is now 12 years old and in the sixth grade. She is a very good student, a happy and smiling person and is also willing to help with any project. Katrina is an outstanding fund-raiser, also. She has gone with staff to training for our Smart Moves program, which is a drug and alcohol prevention component, where she met with 15 other Southern California Club kids in Santa Barbara to learn how to communicate about negative peer pressure to her peers. Katrina has a wisdom beyond her age.
