Voice: Not as expensive as listed to take EMT course

June 10, 2002

I just wanted to set the record straight. I do not want to embarrass anyone but in the article Cedric Ceseña stated that the EMT course costs approximately $500. The reason I am writing to correct this is that I am the instructor for the course and I do not want people to think that it is that expensive and get deterred from taking the course.

My course is good for those who want to use it as a stepping stone for a career in many fields — corrections, EMS, nursing, Border Patrol, Customs, firefighting, police and CHP. The course is broken down to the following fees: tuition, $82.50; malpratice insurance, $35; books, $110 approximately; miscellenaneous equipment, $20.

I offer two courses, one in the evenings on Mondays and Wednesdays and one in the afternoons Tuesdays and Thursdays to accomodate schedules. Plus there are two refreshers a year to renew certifications every two years.

Cedric and Pete are prime examples of alumini who completed their training at IVC before I started teaching and are well-deserving of recognition.
