Boys and girls in sixth through eighth grades are invited to participate in a summer basketball league at the Conrad Harrison Youth Center in El Centro starting June 27. Extra Point football camp
Holtville High School will stage its annual Extra Point full-contact football camp from 5-8 p.m. June 17-21 at Holtville High. The camp is open to all incoming freshman through seniors ages 13-18. Campers must have verification of a physical examination and insurance and bring their own helmet, chin strap, shoulder pads, jersey, pants and pads, athletic supporter, mouthpiece and football shoes. IVC basketball camps
Imperial Valley College will conduct two co-ed basketball camps at the college in Imperial. The first camp is for kids ages 7-12 and will run from July 15-19. The second session is for teens 13-18 from July 22-26. Those participating will receive a camp ball, T-shirt, manual and personal player report card. Guest speakers will be featured daily. Brawley High basketball camps
Brawley Union High School will stage two basketball camps for second- through 12th-grade students. The camps, for all grades, will be June 17-20 and June 24-27.
Fundamentals of the game, defensive and offensive skills drills, training and conditioning, contests, basketball-related films and videos, team play and guest speakers will be featured. Cost of the camp is $35, or $30 for two or more family members. Also, team rates and scholarship may be available. Cincinnati Reds tryout camp
The Cincinnati Reds organization will stage a baseball tryout and camp at 9 a.m. June 22 at Central Union High School's varsity baseball field in El Centro. Registration will start at 8:30 a.m.
The camp will be conducted by Reds scouts Mike Wallace and Fred Yturralde. Those players looking to participate should bring their own uniforms, gloves and spikes.
No player on an active major or minor league draft list may participate. Legion players must bring with them written permission from the post commander or legion coach to work out. Players under age 21 must have a liability waiver signed by a parent to participate. Waivers are available by calling Yturralde at 353-8912.
I.V. Junior Golf registration
All golfers ages 8-19 can register to play in Imperial Valley Junior Golf Association tournaments all summer. The first tournament will be June 28 at Del Rio Country Club in Brawley. Cost for the year is $25 and all summer tournaments, which will be at 8 a.m. Fridays, are $10.

Southwest High volleyball camp
