Visitation will be private for Russell A. Mersereau, 74, of El Centro, who died Wednesday in his home.

Services will be at 9 a.m. Saturday in Central Baptist Church in El Centro. The Rev. James Mersereau will officiate.

Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park in San Diego.

Mr. Mersereau was born Nov. 6, 1927, in Staten Island, N.Y., where he worked for Nassau Smelting & Refining Co. for 33 years.

He served in the U.S. Army for two years and in the Merchant Marines for seven years.

Mr. Mersereau married Joyce Henning in Staten Island on Oct. 31, 1953.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Mersereau of El Centro; sons, James and Kevin Mersereau of El Centro, Robert Mersereau of Grapevine, Texas and Dennis Mersereau of Greenville, S.C.; daughters, Ann Marie Haeflie of Hillsboro, Ore., and Helen Eagan of Staten Island; and 19 grandchildren.


The family suggests memorials be sent to Central Baptist Church, 1290 S. Imperial Ave., El Centro, CA 92243.


Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday in Frye Chapel & Mortuary in Brawley for Daniel A. Lancaster, 41, of Brawley, who died Saturday in Antelope Valley Hospital in Lancaster.

A determination of the cause of death is pending investigation.

Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Saturday in Frye Chapel & Mortuary in Brawley.

Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery in Brawley.

Mr. Lancaster was born June 18, 1960, in Sun Valley and was raised and attended schools in Brawley.

He graduated from Brawley Union High School.

Mr. Lancaster worked in construction as a journeyman plasterer. He was a member of Victory Outreach Church.

Survivors include his wife, Cindy Holguin Lancaster of El Centro; sons, Richard and Daniel Lancaster Jr., both of Patterson; grandfather, Andres Lancaster of Coachella; mother, Lupe Lancaster of Brawley; father, Daniel L. Lancaster of Brawley; brothers, Michael, Mark and Thomas Lancaster, all of Palmdale;  stepchildren, Freddy, Tommy and Elvira Guzman, all of El Centro; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.


Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Frye Chapel & Mortuary in Brawley for Irene Marqueritte Ramey, 93, of Brawley, who died Wednesday in her home.

Services will be at 9 a.m. Monday in Frye Chapel in Brawley. Pastor Daryl Miller of First Christian Church of Brawley will officiate.

Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery in Brawley.

Mrs. Ramey was born April, 16, 1909, in San Pedro and attended schools in the Mulberry District as a young girl.

Her family moved to Blythe where she lived until her junior year of high school. She later moved to Ontario where she graduated from Chaffey High School and attended Chaffey Junior College.

She met her husband, Floyd Ramey, in Ontario. They married in 1929 and relocated to the Imperial Valley in 1942 where they raised their family.

Mrs. Ramey retired as a cafeteria worker from the Brawley Elementary School District.

She was an active member of the First Christian Church of Brawley for more than 50 years.

According to family, Mrs. Ramey was a beloved grandmother to her grandchildren and many of the children from her church and community. She enjoyed spending time raising her family, attending church functions and gardening.

Mrs. Ramey was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Ramey, in 1983; sons, Robert and Richard Ramey; and grandsons, Joe and Mark Floyd.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Darrell and Joyce Ramey of Brawley; daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Dave Erwin of El Centro; daughters, Mary Ann Floyd and Barbara Ramey, both of Brawley; 21 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and two great-great- grandchildren; and other family members, including the Chalupniks, Donnallys, Erwins, Floyds, Hoopers, Oteros, Rameys, Rocks, Ropers, Ryersons, Sancinetos, Tacketts and Witts.
