CHULA VISTA — Three Imperial Valley Desert Aquatics swimmers competed and placed in the Coronado Navy Swim Association's Father's Day "A" meet here last weekend.

The top IVDA swimmer was Stevie Wills, 12, of El Centro, who earned third in the girls 11-12 100-meter breaststroke in 1 minute, 32.74 seconds. She also placed fifth in the 200 individual medley (2:52.28) and eighth in both the 100 butterfly (1:20.19) and 100 backstroke (1:22.24).

Kristi Emanuel, 12, of Calipatria earned seventh in the girls 11-12 200 freestyle (2:36.42), making it her second event for Junior Olympics. She also placed 10th in both the 50 butterfly (36.61) and 200 individual medley (2:59.64) and 12th in the 100 butterfly (1:25.24).


Kacie Rodvil, 10, of Seeley earned 12th in the girls 10 & under 200 freestyle (2:59.64) and 13th in the 50 butterfly (44.31).

More than 250 swimmers from San Diego and Imperial counties and Arizona competed in the meet.

Men's and women's softball

BRAWLEY — Men's and women's softball action kicked off last week at Hinojoza and Gonzalez parks here, with the men playing June 10 and 12 and the women June 11 and 13.

In men's June 10 action:

Supreme Electric beat Bust 'Em 14-15; The Chins beat Nations Rent 20-2; Animo beat La Colemna 16-4.

In men's June 12 action:

Brawley Billiards beat La Gente 28-3; Brewers beat Bad Ash 18-14; Supreme Electric beat La Colemna 26-6; Bust 'Em beat Nations Rent 19-4; Once Again beat Advanced Wireless 26-25; TNT beat IID Zeroes 14-11; Animo beat Del Norte 14-1; The Chins beat Kings Men 19-9.

In women's June 11 action:

Rud Cru beat Free Agents 18-4; Calexico GNC beat Ruben Molina Trucking 18-3; A&R Construction beat Rodahl 12-8; Central Barbershop/Locke beat G.B. Sampson 12-3.

In women's June 13 action:

Rodahl beat La Colemna 9-4; CBS beat Calexico GNC 12-6; J.J. Sluggers beat the Underdogs 15-4; A&R beat Ruben Molina Trucking 10-0; Cameiro Heifer Ranch beat Free Agents 18-3; Rud Cru beat G.B Sampson 18-14.
