I was born and raised here but left in 1964. Now I'm back home and find things haven't really changed here in the Valley. Such a ruckus over naming a street or two with Mexican pride. Look around: We are here to stay — the color of our blood is red, the color of our money is also green and white is still for peace.
Soccer games have grown with the times. Don't you think it's time to recognize and accept?
Imperial Valley residents deserve respect and integrity. Naming streets is one long overdue, integrating gesture. Paul Rodriguez, Manuel Ortiz, Enrique Camarena, Danny Villanueva, Glen Cadrez, Eduardo Caldwell and thousands lost in Vietnam, Korea, Philipines, Grenada; you name it, we got it!
Having lived in L.A., it's wonderful to see how we love to run into someone from here — prosper and conquer — so we have. We're home to stay! There are so many success stories, and we Mexicans have done a great service to our country and to our region. Let's salute and appreciate.
