Soroptimist International of Calexico hosted its fifth annual wine-tasting fund raiser. The theme this year was Noche Mexicana and was celebrated as part of a week's worth of festivities. In conjunction with the city of Calexico's 94th anniversary and the Calexico's Chamber of Commerce's Mariachi Festival, the Calexico Soroptimist celebrated its 55th year of service to the community.
The Soroptimist Club is comprised of executive and professional women, active for the betterment of the community. The heart of the Soroptimist mission is to provide volunteer service. Clubs identify the needs of the community and establish projects to address the needs. Projects can vary from protecting the environment, helping the elderly, helping people with disabilities, helping victims of domestic violence to providing scholarships for those who seek to improve their lives.
This year the wine-tasting fund raiser attracted over 300 guests from throughout the Imperial Valley and the networking among those in attendance was extraordinary. Our guests enjoyed a variety of wines, appetizers, arts and crafts, music, entertainment and prizes.
