A three-vehicle accident Tuesday afternoon south of El Centro at the intersection of Highway 86 and McCabe Road left two injured.

A press release from the California Highway Patrol states two drivers, Norberto Andrade, 55, of West Covina and Dora Romero, 77, of Calexico were taken to El Centro Regional Medical Center for minor injuries.

The third driver, Karina Herrera, 22, of Calexico was not injured.

The accident happened around 2:28 when Andrade's van crossed the path of Romero's car. Andrade was heading east on McCabe and came to a stop at a stop sign at the intersection with Highway 86.

Andrade failed to see Romero's car, which was heading south, and attempted to cross the highway. Romero's car broadsided Andrade's van, causing the van to spin. It came to rest facing northeast in the northbound left turn lane, south of the intersection.

Herrera was heading south on the highway, behind Romero, when Andrade and Romero collided. Herrera swerved to her right and her car ran off the road and struck a power pole.
