HOLTVILLE — Imperial County Narcotic Task Force agents are investigating a fire Wednesday afternoon that burned down a shed suspected of housing narcotics.

The fire burned down the shed at a residence at 2151 Barbara Worth Road, southwest of Holtville. The fire was reported around 10:45 a.m., said Imperial County Fire Department Capt. Lon Hettinger.

NTF agents were investigating the fire because the shed was suspected of being used to store narcotics. NTF agents were not available for comment this morning.

Hettinger said the fire was accidental. Apparently the owner of the residence, Manuel Noriega, and some other people were burning trash inside a barrel that spread to the shed.

The shed burned down, leaving an estimated loss of about $6,000 and about $4,000 for the contents inside the shed.
