A vehicle accident in El Centro Wednesday afternoon left 16-year-old boys from El Centro and Imperial with minor injuries.

The two teens were treated in the El Centro Regional Medical Center for injuries they sustained in an accident around 2:47 p.m. at the intersection of La Brucherie and Bradshaw roads.

According to a press release from the California Highway Patrol, the El Centro teen was driving a sedan south on La Brucherie. The Imperial boy, driving a sport-utility vehicle, also was heading south on La Brucherie behind the sedan. Another 16-year-old boy from Imperial was a passenger in the SUV.

The press release states the El Centro boy slowed his vehicle to make a left turn onto Bradshaw. The Imperial teen failed to see the car slowing.

The Imperial boy swerved the SUV to his right to avoid hitting the slowing vehicle but struck the right rear corner of the car. The car then spun onto the west dirt shoulder and overturned once, coming to rest on its wheels.

None of the boys were arrested and all were reported to be wearing seat belts.
