CHP releases name of Holtville man on motorcycle

HOLTVILLE — The California Highway Patrol released the name of a Holtville man who suffered major internal injuries Thursday morning after crashing his motorcycle into a John Deere tractor.

Jorge Gallegos, 25, was treated at El Centro Regional Medical Center and remained in stable condition Saturday. Gallegos was wearing a helmet.

The name of the man driving the tractor was not released because he is a 16-year-old juvenile.

According to a CHP press release, the accident happened at 6:10 Thursday morning.

The 16-year-old was driving a tractor north on Highway 115, towing a hay rake. When he started to turn left onto Worthington Road, Gallegos, who had been setting up to pass the tractor on the left, crashed into the left front wheel of the tractor.

Gallegos was thrown off the motorcycle, coming to rest on the west dirt shoulder of 115, north of Worthington Road.

The 16-year-old was not injured.
