Man suspected of lewd acts

A Holtville man suspected of committing lewd and lascivious acts with a 14-year-old girl was arrested Friday night at his DePaoli Road home in Holtville.

Methusela J. Pascua, 29, was booked into county jail Friday. Bail was set at $250,000.

The acts allegedly occurred when Pascua was 28 and the alleged victim was 15; there was a warrant issued for Pascua's arrest, according to a county jail staff member.

In a separate case earlier Friday, Isaac Cunningham of Niland was arrested by the Imperial County Sheriff's Office on suspicion of rape and burglary. The 26-year-old was booked into county jail with bail set at $50,000 for the rape charge and $25,000 for the burglary charge. No information on the rape and burglary was available by presstime.

In Calexico on Friday night, U.S. Border Patrol agents found a bloated body floating in the Central main canal east of Bowker Road. The remains of the man were unidentified as of presstime Saturday night.

In Calexico, at 12:59 a.m. Saturday, Calexico police officers arrested Humberto Ruiz-Garcia, 27, after his wife allegedly was beaten. He was booked into county jail Saturday morning on suspicion of corporal injury to spouse. Bail was set at $25,000.
