For Southwest, Deidre Corda won the 200 freestyle (2:29.78) and the 500 freestyle (6:41.66), Alex Mason won the 200 individual medley (2:58.47) and Amanda Mason won the 50 freestyle (32.28).
Alex Mason, Corda, Jessica Claverie and Amanda Mason won the 200 freestyle relay (N/A) and Alex Mason, Corda, Amanda Mason and Katelyn Driskill won the 400 freestyle relay (N/A).
For Central, Karrisa Seaman won the 100 breaststroke (1:31.40), Yvette Ball won the 100 backstroke (1:21.66) and the 100 freestyle (1:05.90). Ball, Irene Baker, Seaman and Nena Fairbanks won the 200 medley relay (2:27.79).
In the Brawley boys’ meet against Imperial:
For Brawley, Rafa Rojas Reyes, Jake Keaton, Bryce Smith and Kai Ingram won the 200 medley relay (1:59.25).
Smith won the 200 individual medley (2:17.75) and the 100 backstroke (1:03.93), Ingram won the 50 freestyle (24.50), Martin Pantoja won the 100 butterfly (1:04.43), Ingram won the 100 freestyle (58.12), Cory Hanks won the 500 freestyle (6:02.09).
Paul Ingram won the 100 breaststroke (1:22.75). Keaton, Hanks, Josh Kenagy and Kai Ingram teamed to win the 200 freestyle relay (1:42.54).
In the Brawley girls’ meet against Imperial:
For Brawley, Marcella Morales won the 200 freestyle (2:25.09), Clarissa Gutierrez won the 200 individual medley (2:45.43) and the 100 backstroke (1:18.34), Annie Mohamed won the 50 freestyle (29.53), Kristi Emanuel won the 100 butterfly (1:11.40), Julia Hannon won the 100 freestyle (1:00.71) and the 100 breaststroke (1:15.56).
Mohamed, Morales, Gutierrez and Hannon teamed to win the 200 freestyle relay (1:58.81) and Kayleen Landy, Courtney Wells, Morales and Miranda Boas won the 400 freestyle relay (4:52.34).
Next is the IVL finals to be held at the Lions Center in Brawley on Thursday.
Imperial 16, Mountain Empire 3
PINE VALLEY — The Imperial High baseball team beat Mountain Empire High of Pine Valley 16-3 in a nonleague game Wednesday.
Russell Havens (5-3) picked up the win. He had seven strikeouts and two walks in four innings, gave up three hits and two runs. Mario Gomes pitched the rest of the game and gave up three hits, one run and struck out one.
At the plate for Imperial, Matt Bush went 3-for-4 with two runs and four RBIs. Havens went 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBIs. Clifford Benson went 1-for-3 with a grand slam in the second inning.
Zach Pitones went 3-for-4 with three runs, Aaron Turner went 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI.
Imperial (8-8, 5-1 IVL) will play at Holtville High at 3:15 p.m. Friday.
Central 7, Southwest 5
The Central Union High baseball team edged cross-town rival Southwest 7-5 Tuesday in Imperial Valley League action.
The Spartans were led by Shawn Colby-Galindo who went 1-for-1, David Acevedo who was 1-for-2 with two runs scored and James Bentley who was 1-for-2 with an RBI. Sergio Ramirez (3-3) picked up the win, recording four strikeouts.
For the Eagles, Travis Wilcox went 2-for-4 with a run scored, Elliot Tagg was 1-for-3 and scored twice and Fernie Diaz finished the game 1-for-4 with a run scored.
Central (9-9, 6-1 IVL) will take the field again at 6:30 p.m. Friday at home against Calexico and Southwest (11-11, 2-6 IVL) travels to take on Brawley at 6:30 p.m. Friday.
Imperial 3, Central 2
The Imperial High girls’ softball team beat Central Union High 3-2 in Imperial Valley League action Wednesday in El Centro.
Imperial’s Caschjen Davis (8-4) picked up the win.
Stephanie Sanchez drove in the winning run, scoring Taylor Lloyd who got on with a base hit. Raquel Fimbres also had an RBI for the Tigers.
Jennifer Moreno suffered the loss for the Spartans. She had two strikeouts and one walk.
At the plate for Central, Moreno went 2-for-3 with a double and a walk. Areyana Marquez went 1-for-3 with a single, Jenyfer Roberts went 1-for-3, Milana Johnson went 1-for-3, Andrea Villas went 1-for-3 with a walk and Lusiza Felix went 1-for-3 with two RBIs.
Imperial (14-6, 5-1 IVL) hosts Holtville High at 6:30 tonight. Central (15-3, 8-1 IVL) plays at Calexico High at 3:15 p.m. Friday.
