Thank You: Many crucial to tourney success

December 10, 2009|By MURRAY ANDERSON, Golf tournament coordinator, Green and Gold Hall of Fame Committee

This year’s third annual John Kirchenbauer Memorial Golf Tournament was the biggest and best yet as 90 golfers enjoyed a spectacular day on the links at Barbara Worth Golf Resort in Holtville on Nov. 22. Thanks to the generous support of the Imperial Valley, the Holtville High School Green and Gold Hall of Fame Committee is able to help local youngsters through youth sports camps and scholarships for Holtville High School seniors.

A special thank you goes out to Mike Abatti Farms for the generous donation of the beautiful golf shirts given to each of the golfers as part of their welcome bag. Also helping sponsor the shirts was Gordon’s Carpet One and Driscolls.

Golfers had the opportunity to win some fantastic prizes on the golf course thanks to Del Norte Chevrolet in Brawley putting up a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado as a hole-in-one prize, David H. West Insurance putting up $10,000 as another hole-in-one prize and South Coast Winery in Temecula offering a bottle of wine to each foursome for a closest-to-the-pin prize. Also, a big thanks to Wal-Mart Supercenter in Calexico for sponsoring the long-drive competition with $50 gift certificates to the men’s and women’s long drive winners.

Newsday, Dune Company, Vic’s Air Conditioning and Electrical, David and Sam Hilfiker, Horizon Farms and Omlin Farms. Donating gifts for the many raffle prizes given away after the tournament was Gordon’s Carpet One, Rabobank, Wal-Mart Supercenter in Calexico, Caliber Screen Printing, Costco, South Coast Winery and Vasqo Technologies.

And a final thank you has to go out to the volunteers who donated their Saturday to make sure the event ran smoothly, including Marv Wood, Arleta Aguirre, Joe Patzloff, Dina Patzloff, Delilah Hawk, Eric Galvan, Megan Marlow, Kristin Marlow, Lucy Bryant, Mike Omlin, Dana Hawk at the Holtville Chamber of Commerce and the Holtville High School girls’ golf team.
