Game of the Week: IHS, BUHS battle in opener

The Imperial Valley League kicks off Friday with Imperial High hosting Brawley Union High on Friday.
The game is set to kick off at 7 p.m. Admission is $6 for adults, $4 for students and senior citizens and free for children 5-and-under.

1 – Imperial High (4-1) is coming off a 48-14 nonleague win against Yucca Valley High at home Friday.
Against the Yucca Valley Trojans, Imperial was led in the ground attack by senior running back Preston Blincoe who rushed nine times for 167 yards.
Blincoe also led all receivers with one catch for 31 yards. Senior quarterback Austin Ortega went 7-for-14 for 83 yards.
Imperial’s senior defensive back Josh Roman led the Tigers with eight tackles.

2 – Brawley Union High (3-1-1) is coming off a 54-0 nonleague win against Blair High of Pasadena.
Against the Blair Vikings, the Wildcats were led by senior running back A.B. Oceguera in the ground game. He rushed five times for 113 yards.
Senior receiver Aaron Ortega led Brawley with two receptions for 89 yards. Senior quarterback Donald Wharton went 3-for-5 for 105 yards and one touchdown.
Linebackers Jacob Valenzuela, a junior, and Jared Mohamed, a sophomore, both led the squad with five tackles each.
