El Centro City Council members adopted a resolution Tuesday to award a La Quinta construction company the bid to build a third fire station at a cost of about $6.2 million.
The station is slated to be located at 1910 N. Waterman Ave, according to city officials. The one-story building would be 18,500 square-feet with construction expected to start June 6. Davis Reed Construction Inc. won the bid.
Completion of the 10-month project is slated for March 21, 2012, said El Centro Battalion Chief Richard Burns.
