On the past three occasions I have gone to the Wal-Mart parking lot in El Centro to recycle my cans and bottles I have found the facility to be
closed. Have they ceased operations at that location? Where can I go at this point to recycle my items? — Bottles and Cans Clap Your Hands, El Centro
The recycling trailer at the Wal-Mart Supercenter parking lot in El Centro should be opened again within four to six weeks.
On Feb. 6, Imperial Valley Recycling Inc. was purchased by SA Recycling LLC of Orange, according to a SA Recycling official in the El Centro
recycling facility on East Ross Avenue.
All of I.V. Recycling’s facilities, from the Ross plant, to the individual trailers in El Centro, Imperial, Brawley, Calexico and Holtville have
been taken over by SA Recycling.
The Wal-Mart location has had a delay with opening because of permits. It was closed Feb. 6 when the takeover took place. The SA official assured
it will open again.
In the meantime, the letter writer can take your recyclables to the El Sol Market location on Fourth Street or to the Ross facility. Call ahead
because some hours of operation have changed since Feb. 6. The number is 760-352-7120.
