HOLTVILLE — Kristen Sharp was crowned the 2012 Cattle Call queen at the Barbara Worth Resort and Country Club on Saturday night.

“I’m not going to lie, I didn’t prepare a speech,” said Sharp with a smile before she thanked her parents as well as the individuals who helped her in this important achievement.

The 22-year-old also thanked the Brawley Chamber of Commerce, which hosted the event.

El Centro resident Anne Locher, 16, is first princess while Mikalla McFadden, 14, was selected as teen queen.

Brawley residents Cidney Roper, 7, and Ruby Robbins, 6, are both Little Miss Cattle Call.

Saturday’s event marks the culmination of various competitions where contestants were ranked by three judges from out of the county.

Contestants were ranked based on their skills in speech, modeling, personality, horsemanship and rodeo knowledge — to name a few.

It was a very close contest, said Ryan Johansen, Cattle Call events chairman, adding every contestant “performed very well.”

The Cattle Call royalty will now preside over Cattle Call Week, which starts Nov. 3 and runs through Nov. 11.
